Open up the document to the left... And on your OWN word document, go and write out how YOU interpret the image. What do you think it means? There are a total of 12 images on this slide, starting with the title slide.
First, let's understand Uelsmann and what he creates.
Watch this mad man work and create these images: Watch Me
If you want a video tutorial on how to blend these images together, watch here: Uelsmann Composite Tutorial

A photo composite is a single image created by combining multiple photos, paintings, or other images. The technique is similar to collages and multimedia art.
Students will explore the artistic power of words in photography, inspired by Barbara Kruger, learning to creatively photograph and composite words into their images. They will also gain proficiency in Photoshop to integrate text into portraits, creating visually striking and conceptually strong artworks.
I will study the work of Barbara Kruger and other artists who use words as a primary visual element, analyzing how text can enhance or challenge an image’s meaning.
I will experiment with photographing words, using different techniques (e.g., reflections, shadows, framing, typography) to incorporate text into my images in visually dynamic ways.
I will learn compositing techniques in Photoshop, combining multiple images to create a cohesive piece that integrates photographed words, backgrounds, and other elements.
I will apply text creatively in Photoshop, experimenting with font choices, size, color, placement, and blending to enhance the message or mood of my portrait subjects.
I will use layer masks and adjustments in Photoshop to seamlessly blend text with portraits, ensuring the text complements the image without overpowering it.
I will reflect on the power of words in visual art, considering how different text choices (size, font, placement) impact the meaning, mood, and tone of my composition.
I will evaluate the overall balance in my composite images, ensuring the text, photographs, and design elements work harmoniously together to communicate the intended message.
3.3.1 Identify and apply guidelines for composition (e.g. simplicity, rule of thirds, point of view, focal point, proportion/scale, framing, etc.)
3.4.1 Communicate a specific idea or narrative through photographic imagery
4.1.4 Demonstrate proper handling of a digital camera
4.1.5 Navigate menus of digital cameras
5.1.1 Describe and utilize the basic elements of exposure (e.g., ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.)
7.2.3 Demonstrate digital manipulation (e.g., layers, layer mask, etc.)
7.2.1 Demonstrate understanding of global and local image enhancements using digital imaging software
7.2.5 Apply image adjustments (e.g., levels, curves, contrast, etc.)
Students will apply these skills with proper camera's that are either supplied by themselves or by the teacher. They will then demonstrate their photoshop skills in class in Adobe Photoshop
