Fair Use Law: (In US copyright law) The doctrine that brief excerpts of copyright material may, under certain circumstances, be quoted verbatim for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research, without the need for permission from or payment to the copyright holder

2 of videos must be examples you find of copyright infringement (in your opinion) from YouTube, Vimeo or another site

Types of Uses of Copyrighted Works in Online Videos

Recut, Reframe, Recycle: Quoting Copyrighted Material in User-Generated Video, (by Pat Aufderheide and Peter Jaszi) shows that many uses of copyrighted material in today's online videos are eligible for fair use consideration. The study points to a wide variety of practices—satire, parody, negative and positive commentary, discussion-triggers, illustration, diaries, archiving and pastiche or collage (remixes and mashups)—all of which could be legal in some circumstances.
